Dr. Kevin Patel developed an interest in EMS early on in his undergraduate years, when he served as an EMT-B with American Medical Response. He attended medical school at Andrew Taylor Still University, School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, Arizona. During his second and third years of Emergency Medicine training, Dr. Patel worked as an EMS Physician with the Kalamazoo County Medical Control Authority (KCMCA) as well as a flight physician for West Michigan Air Care. He went on to complete a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at Western Michigan University-School of Medicine (WMU-SOM). Currently, he works as an Emergency Physician at Baylor Scott & White-McKinney. He is the current EMS Medical Director for McKinney Fire Department, Everman Fire Department and Kennedale Fire Department. He also works as an Emergency Physician at VA Dallas, where he serves as the EMS and Emergency Management Liaison. Dr. Patel believes in the philosophy of learning by simulation and is familiar with using intermediate and high-fidelity simulators for EMS training.
